              Can you do dumplings in the slow cooker ?
              Are they light and fluffy ?
              Do they swell up ?

              I made a mixed bean and chorizo stew. It was delicious.

              I soaked a load of beans last night, brought them to the boil and got all the scum out until the water was clear, before leaving them to stand and soak.

              Meanwhile in a seperate pan I put a tin of chopped tomatoes, garlic and lemon juice, chopped onion, finely chopped chorizo.

              Seperate again I'd chopped a courgette, nice and chunky, salted, and left to stand to draw out the bitterness that you sometimes get. The courgettes joined the toms and chorizo etc in the pan once I'd left them for a bit then rinsed the salt off. The whole lot stood overnight.

              Then this morning, I rinsed the beans again, then poured them in with the other stuff in the other pan, and told wife to boil it up then simmer it for an hour before tea time.

              It was most delicious.

                I don't have a slow cooker (apart from the wood burner), but I do know this;

                If you make them with plain flour and baking powder (or bicarb) you can freeze the excess dough (I always make too much) in a plastic bag, defrost, roll and add to the stew and they are just as good.

                  Love that!
                  Sometimes I do it with chicken instead. No lemon or courgette, red peppers and mushrooms instead. Add a cinnamon stick for 15/20 minutes and (you'll have to trust me here!) a healthy spoonful of dried mint. Top it off with oregano dumplings.
