Just wanted to say that we get these bags at a rate of at least 1 to 2 a week. :dunno:

You cannot support them all, so what do you do with the bags?:th scifD36:

They never seem to come back to collect them, so does anyone have any qualms
about using them to line their bins?

Same here Lili....the times i've filled them and left them out on the allocated day yet they fail to pick them up so i've given up now and use them as bin bags....
If i have any thing for the charity shops i drop them off myself now...

If you didn't ask to be given them, it's up to you what you do with them.

I use them for charity drop-offs, that way I know they are going directly to the charity of my choice, not to some scally that's going to resell them on Ebay!

I recently watched a programme (I think with Dominic what's-his-name) which highlighted the fact that most of these are scam artists and those instigating it are selling the goods (big money in scrap material). One lot even used Macmillan's name/logo on the bags. Charities don't have the funding to do this, ie, supply vans and drivers. People were advised to give direct to the charity shops and avoid these door-to-door ripoffs.

And I would certainly use the bags as rubbish bins or better still as Mad says, to put things in to take to the charity shop!

I never leave them out with stuff in. I use either recycle them at the supermarket with other carrier bags, or use them to take stuff directly to a charity shop

Straight in the recycling bin along with the junk mail.

Any charity stuff goes to the shop, some goes straight in the back office of the shop (for the staff I assume).

It does, staff get first dibs! They do pay for them though, as far as I'm aware, my mum works for one

They might as well be reused first, less wasteful of materials and manufacturing.

Well no, the stuff goes into the back office to be sorted, hung, labelled and sometimes steamed before putting onto the shop floor. However, getting first pick must be one of the perks of volunteering in a charity shop!

I never have anything to put in them:

                  1) Good clothes/shoes get car booted.
                  2) Unsold clothes/shoes get weighed in @ 50p/Kg. Unsold 'good' clothes get given to charity shops.
                  3) Books get car booted and unsold stuff gets weighed in @ 5p/Kg.
                  4) Paper used to be 10p/Kg, then 5p/Kg and is now zilch, so it's only now used for allotment mulch.
                  5) Brick -a-brac (unsold car boot rubbish) gets disposed of @ 5p/Kg. This can include big painted pebble 'paper weights'.
                  6) Small 'electrical' (dead iron, microwave, etc.) gets 5p/Kg
                  7) And finally, and very sadly, cardboard also gets zilch. It was previously 2.5p/Kg but that wouldn't have covered our fuel costs.
                  8) Weighing empty baked bean cans, etc, has also no longer become weighing them in.

P.S. The bags are used for chicken poo.
