Do you remember the sad loss of the 'Solway Harvester' with all hands......after thirteen years she has just, finally been broken up here on the island.

It always sickens me to see some remains of excellent boats, and annoying they were not given away before they got in that state Armandii last pic of what was once a fine yacht

I used to work around Edinburgh in my field service days (30 years) forty years ago, I used to daily pass this large nice house with gardens and in it was a 28ft yacht, obviously not used,
I was tempted to knock on the door and ask if I could have it :-)
Ten years on I noticed a sapling growing from the bow, that sapling is now a Plane tree :-(
Were they too mean to give the boat away if they could not sell it ?

I don't know what the details of ownership of that particular yacht, Jack, but I would have thought that for someone it would have been a great project to get back in being ship shape and in the water again. The hull wasn't holed and it basically looked as though it could be, over time, stripped down, cleaned out and re-equipped at less cost than a new one......plus a little love!! I found myself more "connected" to the other boat as it was obviously a working boat and to see it lying on the beach at the end of it's life did sadden me.:cry3:

This one would take a little more work on it to bring it back into shape.

I was really looking for a brand new one that the person had lost interest in, and it was for free :-)

I get like that when I see dead cars in the scrappy. I think, someone might have used that to move their stuff to their first home, or drove to their wedding in it, or brought their first born child home from the hospital in it.
