That is terrifying clueless, more like a tsunami than a wave. I wonder if it's the angle the photos been taken from? The pub may be higher up than it appears perhaps.

Further down that page there is a photo of a sand storm in Swansea, now that is very surreal.

Well that was interesting! Liverpool's a lot calmer this morning but there's plenty of "tidying up" to do. Wind speeds of 86mph were recorded. Is everyone ready for the next one? :sofa:

Blue sky & a light sprinkling of snow!. All seems to be intact! The wind was a lot quieter around 10pm though & as it didn't wake me up I presume it stayed that way. I hope everyone else is ok this morning.

What you can't see from that pic is that the beach drops away some 30/40 feet and the pub is protected by a sea wall, a road and then another barrier.

I know the waves were crashing over the barriers though, scary stuff.

For those that are interested its Chiswell on Portland.

Well, there are trees down in most of the roads down here. The interesting thing is that most of them have snapped halfway up the trunk instead of be uprooted, but there's a lot of clearing up taking place with the Council sending out teams with Chainsaws to sort out the downed trees. It's certainly altered the skyline somewhat.:hate-shocked::cry3:

Apart from losing another piece of my carport roof there was no other damage. :) The trees lost, debris and cables down around the island had all been dealt with by the time I went shopping this morning. Our services have done a good job! :blue thumb:

My thoughts are with all of you struggling to manage this spell of dreadful weather. Just 24 hours or so and then they say it will get better,

Raining since about half past eight this morning, then it went berserk here from around 1pm, very heavy rain for a good couple of hours - nearly all roads were swimming in it, with standing water all over the place. Around 3pm, the rain slowed again and it is just tiddling away now, although it has been getting windier.
