We had a couple of things blown over in the garden overnight; the patio chair going over woke us up as it's metal & clanged. It's relatively calm now, albeit quite damp

Unless is succumbed in the sense that it has uprooted and vacated the premises without even leaving a note, then it will save. Just give it a very severe hair cut and replant it.

Its uprooted, and there is a significant break to the roots just under soil level - I couldn't budge it at all when I tried earlier, so no chance of getting it upright even with a haircut

        Sorry to see that Ziggy.
Its still blowing a gale here now, nearly 10 hours after it started, will it ever end.

My Acacia tree has landed on the blokes allotment next to mine, its on one of his growing number of compost bins.
Not seen him for weeks, but he appeared this morning with croppers in hand.
Apparently he needs to get it moved as quickly as possible:dunno:

The whole allotment site looks like the blitz, but my fallen acacia tree needs to be cut up NOW.

If you cut all the topside growth off, down to the bottom few buds, it will stand itself up. Plants know which direction they have to grow in, so even if the tree has literally fallen through 90 degrees, any new growth will still aim skywards.

Bad news Zigs. I think we have all had our fair share of this weather now, do you think if we all turned to the west and blew hard, we could get the jet stream back up where it should be? ;)

FC - Try chopping it to a stump and cover gaps with soil. It should resprout no problem

@Zigs Oh no, not the Zed Shed!

Another option is to just take cuttings off it. It is one the few plants that even I have no problem cultivating from cuttings. It roots very easily.

I'm not overly attached to it really - it gave a nice degree of privacy in some ways, but other than that, it was never particularly pretty (it looks like quite an old tree, so loads of old wood in the lower half). I'm wondering about either a silver birch or a weeping willow in its place, but I will probably leave it until next year before I go doing anything.

Mine was the same after the last storm some weeks ago. @clueless1 gave me the same advice, I butchered mine down to about a foot from the base. Mine is as wonky as anything due to it being left to grow that way, I'm hoping mine will also now grow upright & I can ignore the wonky bottom ;)

One fence panel gone, wheelie bins all over the place, a few roof tiles gone (but not mine fortunately) and the gusts have just slowed down to around 50mph. Reached 77mph last night.
