Earthquake in Bristol Channel today..

I did predict one during a planetary alignment a few years back, but that's common sense really

What i'm currently concerned about is Liquifaction of the ground during a prolonged shake, or worse still, the Crust sagging with the extra weight

 

Not heard from him for months

 

I thought the crust was at least 1000 miles thick. Surely water wont be heavy enough to make any difference to it.

 

No, it's only about 20 miles thick, the ice sheet made the north sink and pivoted the south upwards.

We're still adjusting to having the weight of the ice taken away, which is why the south is sinking.

Water weighs 1 tonne per cubic metre, don't know how to calculate how many tonnes extra we've now got, 65 square miles on the surface, but all the porous rocks are now full, could run into billions of tonnes

Somethings got to give.

 

Panic tonight
When I retired I was given an expensive and elaborate COMPASS (No not the one Zigs gave me)
I went into the study where it is kept on a windowsill that for sixty years has faced NORTH

Tonight it was showing 20 degrees shift to the West ?

I went and checked my Military compass in another room and no North had not shifted
Turns out my new LED lamps are causing the shift

Is that Snowdonia glowing tonight ?

If I was a betting man, I'd say its one of three things, none of which would be the LEDs themselves:

1) The transformer that powers the LEDs. In this day and age I'd expect it to be a switched mode regulator+bridge rectifier combo, so unlike to give off much electromagnetic disturbance.

2) Your weird neighbours that you suspect might be aliens have tapped into the circuit, and are using it to power their wormhole generator to bring all their family here.

3) When @Zigs did that emergency repair to the GC TTH he forgot to tell you he'd had to borrow some of your power and wiring, which would go some way to explaining why, when you switch your lights on, another couple of million litres of water materialises just outside @Zig's house.

 

The new LED low energy lamps were fitted in the past two weeks
They just replace ordinary lamps

This reminds me of an incident a few years ago now. The government organised for thousands of households in Africa to get a gift of energy saving bulbs, total value a few grand. There was a condition attached. The government of the African country in question (I can't remember which it was) had to pay a UK nominated independent auditor firm to oversee the distribution, at the expense of the receiving nation. The bill from the auditors ran into millions

 

Oh I know I am proffing, though I do pay for it due to the energy supplement on my bill, Only the other sixty million users are subsidising it too, so a lot less cost to me

The lamps are between £12 and £20 in HomeBase, we are allowed up to £300 worth err sort of free
