What Jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2014..

Shiney....How do you clear that moss? Can you use a rake on the beds?

 

I braved an hour potting in the greenhouse today. With the wind howling and my greenhouse door needing repair I was a bit wary about opening it but it's still hanging on.

Seeds are down for Lupins, white and blue. I'm not sure if the blue will germinate as I collected those last year slightly under developed, we'll have to see. Knautia 'Red Knight' and Nicotiana are now under way too.

My Sweet Peas and Arctotis are up and now in the spare room.

 

Dare i say...did some watering.....some of the shrubs were in need of it ....also moved my Rhubarb as it was getting tortured by the chooks

 

Sown some Brussels and peas today for the works garden.
Carrots and beans to be sowed later

 

Wasted 3 hours making a path before I discovered something that looked like a wire in the ground, changed my plans and erased the path, discovered that the wire was just a funky looking old hose, threw my tools at it and went inside to make pizza.

 

I've sown some broad beans and next will be peas. Hanging on before I do the tomatoes, just one more week, as I'm waiting for my greenhouse to be put up, may be waiting a while!

 

Sowed some early cabbage,collards, and rudbeckia,nicotiana,foxgloves,wallflowers. Brought dahlia tubers in from the shed and potted them up. Watered the salad leaves in the poly, and the overwintering young phlox.did some weeding

 

Have been back in the uk for a few days so not done anything for what seems like ages. was dry for a lot of the day so I put in some more anemone bulbs - also lost a few as the packet went flying off in a sudden gust of wind. Potted up osteospermums, malva and carnations and sowed some cosmos and cleome seeds.

 

I pruned the buddleja back to something resembling a shape and treated the blueberry and magnolia that are struggling to survive in alkaline soil to a sequestrene tonic.

 

Potted on some stevia. That's about it today.

 

More weeding and moss and lichen scraping today. Beds I've done look good, for today at least.
