Salmond has some brass. He tells a large corporation that they're wrong as the best people to do the job of said corporation are, in fact, in Scotland, as if that's all that matters. Really? Because they're in Scotland right now, using those people Alex and you're making them loving leave! They don't want to move the business to England you odious, idiotic little numpty, they'll be forced to to survive.

Ironically, the Scot's will still be able to listen to Ken Bruce, as the radio i player works internationally.

Wish that wee Irish Willie ghit would keep out of Scottish matters. Southern Ireland isn't a shinning example of how little countries try to be big global players having fallen flat on it's face. Hasten to add I love Ireland as a country and married to an Irishman.

"Scottish independence could be a "positive development" for British Airways, according to the boss of the company which owns the airline.

Willie Walsh said the Scottish government recognised the "huge impact" air passenger duty had on the economy.

The Scottish government has pledged to reduce, then possibly abolish, the duty after a "Yes" vote in the referendum."

Love the "possibly" Aye right. Another big fat bribe to the Scots who could vote yes so there might be the vague possibility of a reduction in the cost of their holiday in Ayia Napa! Wait a minute I thought the airport tax was a "green" tax? How come then Wee Eck you are hell bent on ruining our beautiful Country, planting ....... ineffectual windmills all over it so as to "save our planet"? Laughable but I'm not laughing it's scary stuff. We just might have to move South if there is a yes vote (no desire to) and have only recently had my 1st new (not 2nd hand) greenhouse erected!!!!

                      Reducing air passenger duty!!!!

Now, how does that help the economy?

Is it really going to encourage hordes of people to fly to Scotland because the flights are a bit cheaper? :hate-shocked:

Of course, it will make it cheaper for the Scots to get out of the country :heehee:

More planes routing via your "hub" perhaps some passengers buying Duty Free on their layover, but more probably you are selling the planes fuel (piped direct from your North Sea rigs) ...

... however, I've landed at Edinburgh airport - don't remember it being quite the same size as Heathrow or Amsterdam? :heehee:

You are quite right Kristen. I can remember when Edinburgh just had the air traffic control tower and a sort of a hut. There was a wee man who used to take your photo as you climbed the steps into the aircraft!
Having had the very dubious pleasure of spending fair amounts of lay over time in both Thiefrow and Schiphol there is absolutely no comparison in size BUT Edinburgh Airport is actually quite pleasant to spend time in. Glasgow Airport is much bigger than Edinburgh but still small in comparison to the likes of Heathrow but has being ghastly in common!
Last time I flew to America I actually managed to get a flight direct from Edinburgh so no hellish flight down to London or having to stay over night in those rat infested hotels on The Bath Road...yuk!

Sorry in advance for the digression, but this got me thinking about my stint in the airport on Zakynthos. Its such a tiny little pokey hole, but there is a very apologetic notice on the well, apologising for the uncomfortable conditions and explaining that they had been given money to redevelop it to cope with the increased demand, but the former mayor had embezzled it all and ran off:)
