In fairness to T&M, the mould was not down to them or their seeds - that was a pack of Johnson's seeds, and I never usually have any problems with their seeds.

I am just sick and tired of spending what is a lot of money (to me) on annual plants only to end up patching my display up at the last minute - I ended up with a border full of marigolds last year because T&M stuffed me up so much.

Exactly. Hold the compost down with a sieve and pour boiling water through it. Then chuck in the microwave for a minute or two - this is extra sterilisation and dries the soil out after the dowsing.

FC - I have seeds going begging here.....................

          Cheers @longk :)

I am already into an order from Mr Fothergills, but will give you a shout if you have any that I want - very kind offer :)

I am going to have a good long look at Crocus too, as their customer service was second to none the last time I used them.

Thanks Val - will probably give them a go for the gladioli (and knowing me, a few other things will end up in my basket :heehee:)

I'm going to give any T&M seeds a miss Val. It's a pity that site you found aren't selling another brand apart from T&M. Thanks for searching though. :blue thumb:

FC.....I dropped T & M many years ago because of the unreliability of their seed. I've used Suttons ever since and had no problems. :)

@Val.. I think you're right that Penstemon must belong to T&M as I can't find an American site that has them either!!

Good choices @mowgley :dbgrtmb: I must get 2/3 of my seeds from Premier and Seedaholic and I get most of my bulbs and corms from the mighty Wilko's ! All have superb performance and good prices .
PS @longk is a very good supplier as well! The Chilean glory vine and Commelina Alba are doing great, should be pricking them out in a week or so thanks:blue thumb:

                    Good point!
Seriously though, some seed loses viability with time. I can vouch for the freshness of my seed.

                    Result!

I'm unfamiliar with Begonia seedlings so cannot be specific, but I would prick four or five out and see how they do. If they're ok after a few days do the rest,
If not let them grow as they are for a few weeks. Then take a tablespoon sized chunk and plunge this mass in a bowl of water. As you move them up and down in the water tease them apart very gently.

Thanks @longk - they are still way too small to touch at the moment, so I will just have to wait and hope for a bit
