What's Buzzing or Flying near you today.... 2014

I'm just getting this on your pic Our Mandy,

 

Aah, missed the second one, I can see that Looks like a Ladybird to me

 

Never seen one of these in my life!!!!, OH was clearing a new area in our little wood yesterday and must have disturbed this fella from his slumbers, sorry the pictures aren't to good but he was very shy, pretty sure its a Woodcock after hanging around in the roses for a while he ran, very fast, back down the garden into the wood.

You can't creep up on one of those, they got 360 degree vision

 

Very difficult to see a Woodcock let alone get a pic of one. They are normally seen at dusk and as you can see in the pic, they have fantastic camouflage pattern .

Some birds are getting into their breeding season now by fighting for their territories and chasing off competitors, including their reflections. This great tit did just that. For a couple of hours it repeatedly did battle with itself, at the same time providing me with lots of entertainment on this dreary day.

You are quite right about taking photo through windows. As the great tit was very obliging for 2 hours, I was able to take lots of photos. Of course the majority were rubbish. Do you have any tips for taking photos through a window pane?

I shall look forward to the great tit's return .
Thinking about it, I remember that some years ago (before the digital camera era) there was a hedge sparrow knocking on our window during early summer. This went on for a couple of years so probably the same bird?

 

Very little to see today at Soldiers Road, between Wareham and Corfe, a small area of Stoborough Heath Nature Reserve with normally a good selection of birds but even though it was sunny there apart from dozens of Chaffinches, a few Dartford Warblers (again bleached in the sun giving washed out pics).




and an inquisitive Coal Tit.
