Thanks HarryS, it also works a treat for washing down the house walls just after the rainy season starts as with all the dust that has accumulated, it looks really bad with the first rains.
Just remember to turn down the pressure or some of the paint may be washed off along with the dirt.

Sounds like a line from Little Britain. :heehee:

I've always found that if I'm using the jet washer, it does the trick on its own without any sort of detergent or chemicals.

If the jet wash is up to the job you dont need chemicals, surely that is what its all about.
If you want to apply a bleach solution afterwards to delay the build up of algae that is something different.

Thanks for the idea but I don't go down on hands and knees (bad knees) and it's the bending over and putting pressure on that does my back in. So I find using the pressure washer is the only way as I can stand upright without having to put pressure on my back and shoulders. Using a high pressure washer isn't too bad as long as I limit it to no more than a couple of hours at a time.

It takes a hell of a long time to clean 200 sq. m. of patio! :hate-shocked:

That couldn't get anywhere near doing the job. Even with a very high pressure hose it has difficulty in getting it clean.

It's nice having a large patio but is hard work and I've had to let all the servants go! :heehee:

I put this on the weather thread 1st :pathd: thanks Jiffy for letting me know

Please be careful if the bleach brings the worms up and you leave them on the paths, soaked in bleach it will do the birds harm if they eat them.

Well cleaned my patio today , used a buckets of hot water with half a bottle of thin bleach and 2 good squirts of detergent in each . Just slopped it over the patio and left for 20 minutes ( never left it as long before ). Most of the limestone pavers jet washed very easily after this , so leaving it for along time for the chemical action seems to do the job :dbgrtmb:

What did it do to the grass, or plants, alongside as it ran off the paving?

You can also try Oxalic Acid to clean a patio. (Used by woodworkers.)

No problems on that Shiney , luckily my lawn is raised so the mix never gets near the grass . When I slosh it on I keep it back a little from the borders and jet most of it to an area under the BBQ . The mix that does get into the borders is so dilute with the jet water it never causes a problem .
I'll nip out later and throw a bucket of mix over next doors lawn, then we can see what happens
