I haven't heard or seen any frogs this year yet but this morning I found 2 big clusters of frogs' spawn in the pond :hapydancsmil:

I had a look at my records regarding our frogs, in the last 5 years they spawned around
    17/03/13; 24/02/12; last week of Feb 2011; 18/03/10 and 06/03/09.
Since we have had such a mild winter I'm a bit surprised that the frogs have not spawned earlier than average, never the less, I'm really glad they are here. I'll see if I can catch sight of some embracing busy frogs on camera in the next few days.

Same here, the frogs are croaking and the first spawn was on Friday, more appeared overnight last night.
I also expected to see some a bit earlier this year.

Probably due to rain. Shagging in the rain really puts a dampener on the mood!

Not if you're naked and in a pond.

I think our frogs are facing dying out!! :cry3:

After finding the frogspawn mentioned above, there are no more changes in either quantity of spawn or sightings of frogs, apart from 1 splash, whereas in the past the pond would be boiling with frenetic froggie activity.

I did notice in the last 2 years, around the time that tadpoles started to develop their back legs, they started to disappear and, after a week or two, I would have to look extremely hard to find the odd few tadpoles. I knew the fish ate some of them but they were never able to clear all tadpoles as they were in a shallow corner of the pond which the fish can't reach. Now with the lack of frogs here, I wonder whether the anti-blanket weed chemicals I put in the pond could have killed off the tadpoles. (Because of tench in the pond I never use the full strength though.) Does anybody else have similar problems?? If it isn't the chemical problem, what else could be causing the near complete disappearance of tadpoles??:help:
