Well my Grand Children prefer Bengal Tiger (grrrr) to pretoria , a far more exciting name ! :dbgrtmb:
It looks really really nice with the Durban - I am not buying any more plants this year , I think Durban is on my shopping list for next year though - can you grow it from seed ?

Just been Googling Cannas , and came over this little gem below...... I always wondered why my C. Bengal Tiger glowed in the dark
Imported from India in 1963 by the Glasshouse Works guys, Canna 'Bengal Tiger' is a sport of Canna 'Wyoming' that originated from radiation experiments in the 1950's at India's Agri Horticultural Society.

Just sorting out my seeds for the coming year and completely forgot I had taken some Canna from the seed parcel :old:

I have some catching up to do, it's not too late is it?

Don't think so, I would chip the coat, soak in hand-hot water (replaced periodically) for 24 hours, perhaps even chit on damp kitchen paper, and then keep under-glass for a decent length of time, perhaps not plant out until well into June - that will help them catch up enough to flower in good time this season.

Just to remind you that the ones I sowed that Autumn when I bought my Metal Halide lamp were flowering 8 weeks after sowing - and that was indoors :) hence I think you can fast-track them - assuming that you want to of course

I'm behind too this year, due to being busy setting up being self employed, I'm still hoping to get some in soak this week. I have grown some from seed as late as April in the past and they still make good sized plants, I had a Canna Altensteinii grown from a saved rhizome last year and it never got moving until late June and it ended up being 7-8 feet tall by the end of the summer.

Talking of rhizomes, I checked all my saved plants from last year and they're looking good, some have new shoots showing, so I'll still have some Cannas growing away soon hopefuly :)

                      That's good @JWK.
I've not had one germinate out of around 40 sown from the seed saved from @sal73 canna plants lat year. The seed has been collected at different time of year too.
Some collected in October, November and there was still some on the plants collected this month!
All my other canna seeds all came up though :dunno:
Luckily I've dug up some rhizomes and they've started growing in pots:yes:
