    Lovely pics everyone. So much coming into bloom. My magnolia's just about to burst into flower, all the shrubs are in bud and there's even dahlias and gladis poking through now. Garden is going mental

          Nice! Which one is it?

          Also nice!

          What! Please god tell me that it is under glass. Mine are just poking through (and I was feeling rather smug about that!).

          Some of the colour in the garden at the moment.

          My Prunus "kojo-no-mai" just starting to bloom. I love this little shrub as it very dainty and usually the first shrub to flower.

                Am I right in thinking I'm too late for fritillaria imperialis this year? (Unless I buy a plant already flowering). I'm guessing I'd need to buy bulbs to plant in late summer?

                    Yes they are all under glass - but I was hoping to keep quiet about that. :mute:
                    Its a strange thing. I have alongside it Fritillaria persica, which is similar but a blue/purple colour. Two weeks ago the persica was almost full grown with signs of the flower buds developing, whilst the imperialis was a tiny green sprout one inch high. In the last two weeks the imperialis has grown an inch or more every day and now flowered, but the persica hasn't moved.

                    All I know is Pleione formosa - but no cultivar name - its probably a pleb. :)

                      It must be rather whiffy in there!

                      My F.persica are winning the race at the moment, but I'm just chuffed none of them rotted with all the wet we've had.

                          I agree with Kristen about recommending Anglia Bulbs.

                          The planting area needs to be free draining. If you have any doubts about this, either;
                          a] don't bother.
                          or
                          b] prepare the area thoroughly.

                          The bulbs need to be planted on their sides.
