Ok, not quite a recipe (although as this is the recipe section, I'll tell you how I'd make it), but what do you serve it with?

Right, here's how I'd make it:

Make some mashed potato, however you would normally do it.
Mix in as much grated cheese as you want.
Add some very finely chopped onion (spring onions, including the green bits is best)
    A bit of black pepper
Some finely chopped herbs - parsley works well but as would thyme.

Mix it all up good and proper, put it in an over proof dish, and bake it at gas 7 until the top browns off.

So that's how I'd do it, but what is good to serve with it?

I slice tomatoes and put them on the top before I stick it in the oven. Sometimes I have a couple of veggie sausages with it but I really like it with baked beans and some bread and butter.

I would be hungry if I hadn't just stuffed myself with Thai red seafood curry.

Even the power of a cheese& potato pie isn't enough to make me hungry at the mo. Tomorrow now, that's another matter.

Bacon or fish, veg sausages or meat sausages, or serve it for the main part of the meal with salad or steamed veg, all go with it nicely too..

I would put 1 teaspoon of English mustard in in your mash too..
