That looks a lovely site Dave:blue thumb: A practice pitching this weekend is essential. Plenty of warm clothing , plus remember never use a gas stove for heating a closed tent due to CO poisoning risk.

My wife would be glad for the peace and quiet but then again we only have the one child so she wouldn't be left at home with a baby. Tricky one. On one hand you are doing something good for your oldest boy but on the other hand you're leaving your wife at home to cope with a baby. I take it your 6 month old is not sleeping through yet? Anyway it's only one night and half a day. I'm sure she'll be fine with it.

My son is nearly 4 and he's at that age where we're starting to do things together. I love having boys time on my own with him.

He's been sleeping right through since he was 3 months. Same with the older lad. We're really lucky there. I hear tales from other parents that the sleepless nights lasted much longer.

For future reference @clueless1 ...there's some good sites in Goathland and not far from Grosmont where you can jump on the steam train there:dbgrtmb:

It's not too late. I haven't booked anywhere yet. Do you happen to know the names of any good sites in that area so I can look them up?

I think the secret is in my genes. My mam says I slept right through from very early on too.

It seems everyone was upset about the fact it had been raining when they went. It does that. The trouble with the location is its all peat, so when it rains, it quickly becomes quite sloppy and I imagine that's a problem for caravans and campervans. Someone else complained about the midges, which unfortunately are common on the moors when its been damp, and another person complained that the bins were full, which is not a good thing, but they had been on the busiest weekend in years. Potholed tracks are not great, but again if you're not pulling a caravan it shouldn't be so bad.

I don't think I'd rule it out, but for now its probably second place to the other one I found. Still looking though.
