Hi from Norwich

Hello everyone!

I graduated uni last year and so now I finally moved into a place where I'll probably be staying for a while. I have a west facing back patio, it's very built up all around it, but I do have a long patch of earth along the west wall that's half in the sun, so in there, and in containers, I plan to grow a number of edible things. The soil I have is quite sandy and extremely stony, so I have a lot of sieving and soil-building ahead of me.

As for what I want to grow, I have attached two plans for what I'd like to grow. One is more ambitious, one more modest, it remains to be seen if I am able to do any of this, don't make fun of me please if my plans are ridiculous :P

Anyway, here are a bunch of photos of my garden etc. and I look forward to talking to all you more experienced gardeners!

It may be hard to see the potential in this place... but I see it! This is the west wall:

Climbing roses would be a wonderful idea! I've already got some clematis in the right hand corner that I hope will be able to climb along the corner of old, crumbling wall and over my satellite dish (a remnant from the last tenant, I don't use it) I'm attaching pea and bean netting as well as bamboo supports all along the entire west wall, (or a proper trellis if I decide not to be lazy :P) so that will be something all the climbers can take advantage of.

 

Welcome to GC Eva from your pic nearest the back of your house looks to get the most sun so even if it means lifting a few pavers to create a new border go for it and enjoy....

 

well I have been on here for a couple of years and this has to win for the best intro ever ... great photos and plans and the best part was the sun at different times of day .

Hi Eva ...welcome to GC

If you put below your avatar roughly where you are in the country you will get more precise advice from GC members. Where you are in the country lets us know from your climate, the best time for you to sow (frost dates), and good plants for you to grow.

 

I know it does Spruce but in a week or a month if Eva asks a question I won't remember she's from Norwich. I think it's better when members have it in that box below the avatar photo. JMO.
