      I'll try and dig up some leatherjackets tomorrow, but this is what I expect them to look like, fat, grey and non-segmental.

              Hi,
              Thanks for the help so far.
              Ive read my camera instructions now so have managed to get a closer image.
              Seem to have a blackish head but no tail, greyish in colour, look yellowy in direct sunlight.
              I've poped a few in a jar with some of the compost and couch grass roots, will see what happens.
              Best in the dark or light?

                put them on a warm patio and they will stretch out

                I still say leather jackets , when put on the pavement and they stretch out to find a safe place to hide.
