Just watching Sunday Brunch, and James Wong is on talking about growing stuff at home; he said that dissolving quarter of an aspirin tablet into a litre of water and spraying tomatoes with it once a month during the summer will significantly increase the sugar and vitamin C content of the fruit. He also inferred that this would work with strawberries. I presume that he means to spray the foliage?

Has anyone heard of this, or even tried it? Might give it a bash this year

Just been reading about this @fat controller
I'm not sure if it improves flavour but looks like it improves the plants immune system
Most folk say crush 2 tablets into 9l watering can and water every month
I might try it this year

Its the Salacylic acid but I would sooner take aspirin than try to swallow one of these when I get a headache [IMG] :lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

If you want to take the really 'green' route, then soak willow bark in water and use that.

:old: Another little gem of knowledge -
"Asprin" is named as such, as it is derived from the Greek word for white, άσπρος, it sounds like 'asbros' with a very soft 'b'.

Was Aspirin a registered trade name originally , by a German company ? I think its just a generic name now.
