When i received my Rose order at the weekend they came with 3 'freebies' it says on the pack what they are but not on the individual plants:doh:...so i've potted them up until they flower so i can distinguish what they are....if you really want them then you could do the same but it's a lot of Roses to pot up:blue thumb:

I buy mine bare root from a local specialist nursery as I can go round in Summer and see them in bloom in their show-field, and then choose the ones we like the look of, and that smell nice :) ... but I do have a few wouldn't-buy-from-them on my list, unrelated to Roses specifically :)

I would say its a good price. I know their quality is good, and I doubt roses are cheaper elsewhere. I'm sure there are bin-end type bargains to be had, but in terms of "Look in a catalogue and choose anything you like" these would be a good price.

David Austin roses look like they are £11 each

        select Bush Roses and SEARCH

That is for Bare Root though, so only for sale/planting during Winter months. David Austin also sell pot-grown roses, for planting at any time of the year, and they are available from lots of local outlets. More expensive than bare root ones though, I think

Shrub rose are what we call either French or old English roses. They flower early summer, but only once. The are no subsequent 'flushes', they are often heavily scented, normally have spectacular 'hips' after flowering. They normally grow to about 4'. In nurseries they are pre-fixed this the name 'rosa'.
The modern bush rose comes in infinite shapes and sizes. It bears most modern roses including h/t and floribunda types, flowers all season.
          Both need light pruning only
