Has anyone got one of these? Are they any good? Any shopping recommendations?

I've seen these before and they look like a good idea, but no experience of their practicality in use ? :) Just buy one and report back ;)

No personal experience, but seen plenty of posts on forums saying that they are junk.

Of course only the people who have problems with them will post that ...

So if someone thinks they are fantastic it would be good to know! I really need a new hose but could easily just get a conventional one.

I have one it's blue in colour. It's xhose, and have to admit I love it. A lot better than having to roll up a hose when finished with. It's amazing how small it goes when no water in it

            I bought a non-stretch version like this:

Not quite the same I know. I don't like mine since it coils around and snags anything nearby (plants, legs, posts, grandkids) so I no longer use it. The other problem is it reduced the water pressure considerably which I suspect those stretchy hoses are even worse for. We have low pressure here anyway so I was only getting a dribble.

Have you tried a wide-bore hose / pipe up your hill @JWK? Helps a lot here (on the flat) but perhaps mainly because I have long runs. I installed 32mm MPDE down the garden with taps at appropriate points. There's a thread on here somewhere with "time to fill a bucket" comparisons that I did.

[IMG]Maybe something like this would be better then? There's a 25 and a 40 metre option.

!Stupid question alert! Where does it fasten onto the water supply? Presumably if you have an outside tap you would keep it permanently attached ready to grab and squirt.

You'll need a connector like the one below,it might come with one....then it just pushes onto a 'nozzle' on the side of the reel:blue thumb:

I've done that with mine - so I can easily unhook the hose and use the "flying end" to fill a bucket. Builders / Tradesmen still take it off at the tap, weakening the screw thread and increasing the amount it leaks every time :(

So the end of the connector will plug onto to the back end of the hose hidden somewhere in the casing?

These are much better in my opinion, a bit more bulky but mine has lasted years. Mine connects on the other side in the centre, with a connector hose as Loli shows.
