slug hunting in the greenhouse all bottoms of pots checked and another load found !! its the tender perennials from the garden that will be coming out soon that are the problem.

Lawns cut, moss is looking lovely and green :hate-shocked:

Tomato seeds planted last batch "Lebanese" from Jenny.

:) OK. Not sure how good night time photos will be though ...

This is the bit of the garden being lit. Its the main view from the house:

            AAE_7093_CentreCourt.jpg

there are 8 Yews each side (planned topiary) which I have put a buried an uplighter under. I tried the uplighters on the perimeter hedge, but they cast a very narrow light, so I didn't think that worked well, so I have now gone for spike-spots behind the Yews pointing at the outer hedge. The perimeter hedge needs to be taller for the effect to work well I suspect, but there is "some light" being cast. For now I have spike-spots on every alternate yew (that may turn out not to be enough though), and one extra spike-spot at the end pointing at the far end perimeter.

The spike-spots pointing across the narrow strip of lawn at the perimeter hedge cast a band of light across the lawn, which looked weird, so I've pointed them a bit more skyward to avoid that - but diminishing returns as the perimeter hedge isn't very tall, as yet.

Only using 3W bulbs, need to try 5W and maybe stronger. Perhaps I need some wide-angle bulbs too??

Now that I have discounted the uplighters I have no idea how to illuminate the hedge either side of the far walk ... perhaps spike-spots on one side pointing across the path at the other side? Or a strip of LEDs along the base "In case of emergency lawn-level lighting will illuminate ..." :heehee:

Only thing I know for sure is that the fittings are blinking expensive :(

Mrs K came home early last night - blinking clock change lousing things up! - and I had to tell her the only gardening job needing doing was hoeing the roses - in a different part of the garden. I scooted round there when I heard her car and called out a greeting, secateurs in hand pretending to attend to something that only my skill / height / weight! could do :)

I think I will unveil tonight, birthday tomorrow and going to be a bit odd having no present "until the evening" ...

I properly cheated yesterday - loads of trays sitting on racks by my French doors, all wanting watered and the only watering can suitable for use indoors is a piddly wee thing -- so, I opened the French doors and brought the hose in and put it on a nice gentle mist setting.

Mrs C didn't even bat an eyelid; think she is used to me and my wee 'gardener ways' now. :snork:

I'd like to bet I am not alone :snork:

Seemed illogical to me to keep trotting back and forth to the kitchen when I had a perfectly controllable, limitless source of water that I could bring to the plants.
