I had 'Live Dead' on vinyl in the '70s, never listened to anything else. West Coast for me was Airplane and early Steve Miller.:blue thumb:

I happened to be listening to this theme tune and it started me off on some of the connections that I make in my head  :)

It's the theme tune to the hit Western, The Big Country, starring Gregory Peck and Jean Simmons. The tune was nominated for an Academy Award.

Some of you might remember it

An actor/film star/singer, Burl Ives, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and also The Golden Globe Award.

He was a good actor with a gentle voice

The film was taken from the book of the same name by Donald Hamilton who also wrote a series of spy/adventure books about a character called Matt Helm. These were written around the time that the James Bond books became famous but Matt Helm wasn't as glamorous as James Bond.

They made four Matt Helm films at that time but did them as a spoof of James Bond instead of seriously, as in the books. Dean Martin played the part of Matt Helm.

The Austin Powers character was, later, drawn from the Matt Helm spoofs but, at the same time as Matt Helm they made another James Bond spoof series about Derek Flint. He was just known as Flint and was played by James Coburn

If you've bothered to listen through these then you need an award, too :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

The last one won't play ...

"Embedding disabled by request ... " :dunno:

So, ultimately, no one can "win" any award you have attributed to listening through all of the above (cheeky bean! :heehee: And I was so up for the challenge!).

Cor, wonder if DM suffered blisters on his lips after that lot :hate-shocked:

You can still win your award :blue thumb:

Where it says 'Embedding disabled' (don't know why it's done that) it has a link underneath to the video. :)
