Thought I would update with some piccies :)

Here is the hired help, with his own Fork (he also has a matching spade).

The pile of rubbish in the very corner of the plot, where the entrance doors to the tunnel and shed are :-

And pulling the tarp and box out of the way :-

I have since cleared the area more (can be seen in the video below :) )

    Inside the poly :-

And I have some cell trays on the go ....

This shows the temps achieved in the last week :-

    Back outside :-

This is the state of the weeds in the soil (this isn't that bad :D ) :-

I dug a little bit more today, at the end of the polytunnel.

Another bonus, I found a nice big water tank in a skip, ideal for keeping a supply of water nearby :)

And here is the video, to give a quick look at what (and hasn't :snork: ) been done.

Okay.... Since the last pics, it has mostly been dig, dig a little bit more.... And a bit more.

It is lovely when I hit an area that isn't riddled with roots, and it turns over so quick and the soil just falls apart easily, but it has mostly been riddled with roots :snork: , so hard work is exactly what is needed.

I decided to plant my Shetland Black Potatoes in the ground at the end of the tunnel, which cannot be seen easily in any of the pics.

I have decided to put the water tank between mine and my neighbours sheds (next to my neighbours shed, right on the border of the plot), and this will sit on a platform made up of several 3x3 timbers and will be around 4' off the ground, which will allow watering of the plot at any time (as long as there is water in the tank) as it will feed via gravity to the whole plot. I will also get an adapter for the tank, as it still has a ball float valve fitted.

When I turned up yesterday, I thought I would take a picture of the allotment, from standing on top f my van :-

As I had to unload a huge 12' long pallet off of the roofrack, along with a few other pallets, which I will use to make some compost bins.

The result of some digging :-

And from a different angle :-

I've been back over today to do a little bit more digging, which took forever to do, as the ground was loaded with root systems.

This is what I dug over (you can tell by the darker patch) which measures about 3 foot x 8 foot :-

and this was the roots from that area :-

Quite a few of my seeds are now showing themselves as well :-

And a quick pic of how the plot looked when I left today :-

I really want to get the area along the Left of the Poly tunnel towards the shed dug over, then that piece will be done, and I will then be working myself towards the front of the plot then.

No, the idea is to connect a hose to the inlet, the ball cock will prevent any overflows :) , it also seems there is a rule that you are not supposed to use a hose to directly water everything (whether someone was feeding me something, I'm not sure :snork: ), but by filling a tank and having a hose coming from the pipe at the base, in theory, I am not using the mains water supply as my water is coming from a storage tank :snork: , The mains is only connected to fill the tank

I'm amazed at your progress Nate. And all your seed sowing - wow. You are going to have a fantastic harvest from all that . I do love these updates, thank you for finding the time and the energy to record it for us,

Not uncommon on allotments. Prevents someone hogging the supply, leaving a sprinkler on all day whilst they are at work, and so on.

Indeed! You might need a pump though, or to raise up the tank, to have enough head to drive your irrigation (trickle or seep hose perhaps?)

Yup, thats why I said I will have it raised around 4' off the ground, so that gravity works in my favour :)
