:gaah:...I've just missed the most amazing shot:gaah: I was just sat having a cuppa, minding my own business when i heard this really loud squawk, opened the door to see not one but 2 huge Herons sat in my Magnolia tree, how such big birds balance on such tiny branches I'll never know,i also don't know how long they'd been sat there...so like a numpty i got all excited jumped up grabbed my camera and whizzed outside:doh:it was either the camera or me without my makeup on that scared them and off they went, all legs and wings:rolleyespink: I don't know if i'm more annoyed at scaring them off or for being a wally and not just sitting and watching them....Marvelous creatures:wub2:..I'll get them next time:thumbsup:

This bee was on the patio early the other morning. At first I thought he was dead but, on closer inspection, I saw that he was breathing.

Then along came Sarafi to have an inspection. He had a sniff and was just putting his paw out for a tentative pat on its back when I said, firmly, "No!". He gave me an offended look and wandered away. The bee stayed there for about four hours, until the sun started to shine on him. Then he moved off.

I also got to see a wasp/bee emerge from it's home in the grass and lazily buzz off. Second best thing I've seen since I watched a wasp eat a fly bum first last year.

Not seen any house martins or swallows yet, but saw a butterfly today, I had to look twice:hate-shocked:and then again, but it flittered on past. I'm sure I don't normally see them this early in the year.

My cherry tree was buzzing loudly today, so lots of happy bees!:)

Birds are singing, flitting and fighting and my small front garden looked like an aviary this afternoon.

              I do love spring:spinning:

Swallows yes, House Martins not yet, normally the other way round!
Wheatears, Blackcaps and Willow Warblers are now around but not in quantity

Visited Sherborne Castle (North Dorset) today and walking round the lake I spotted a Common Sandpiper by the waters edge.

The Siskins came back briefly and the male flew towards me as I was taking a pic from the kitchen door, he perched on the rotary ten feet away.
