Well I was growing violas in my greenhouse up until this morning, but they are all smothered in whitefly!!!!!:gaah: I used to grow regal pelargoniums in the greenhouse but they also attracted whitefly and I lost the battle trying to control them!!! So, I shall grow something else that whitefly won't attack. any suggestions? A tall order I know, but thought I would ask anyway!!:love30:

Val ,always handy to have a spray bottle with a few drops of lavender oil diluted in water to give them a spritz,it's keeping them at bay in my GH but it 's still a battle on the Verbena cuttings i took...

I had a larger greenhouse where I used to live and I even tried introducing some of those bugs that eat the whitefly, but I think they died from overeating!!!:dunno:

I think this year with the mild winter there are lots of little critters making a meal of things in the GH and the garden..i spray mine everyday to keep them at bay:rolleyespink:

D'you know I am so fed up of spraying particularly whitefly that make the leaves go a horrid black I am now going to grow things that are less aphid prone, if they exist that is!!!! :th scifD36:

Try placing some moth balls around the greenhouse,a chap I used to know swore by this method.
Also marigolds are a good for this ,I always plant them in between my tomatoes and have know problems.

I do Val with no problems , but you have to water more , gives some colour as well over winter.

You need a good spring clean , and a sulphur candle

I'm plagued with whitefly too. All my Isoplexis are whitefly free, but they are the only things in the greenhouse with greenfly!!I found some RSM on my Cantua (it had a mild RSM infestation OUTDOORS last year, but as it is warm enough to put it out that has sorted them out.

Hi Sheal, You could be right as it was some years ago that I was a member of this group and this advice was given in a talk. But must admit it did not work for me but marigolds do and I still us these to this day in with my Tom's.
