Responding to Jenny namaste's comment that this forum likes piccies, I thought as a new member I would put a pictorial post together showing my allotment journey over the past 3 years to where I am today.

Hopefully its not too tedious for you all, we have had a lot of fun with the allotment since the day we took it on, plus lots of hard work and also numerous failures, from pests attacking everything in sight to the weather killing off tender young plants

    The Beginning
First day on the plot 16th May 2011, the ground had been cleared somewhat, just full of rubbish from years of being a 'dumping ground'.

    2014
This year I have taken on half a plot next door to the current one, which increases our growing space :hapfeet:

    March

Moving the polytunnel to the new plot and adding a door and window:

Re-covered and all set for this season's growing

Well that's it for now, I plan on getting a couple of grape vines in this year, and get a decent crop from my hops to do a green hop brew in the autumn.

    Cheers!

I live further down the Thames in Thurrock. My nearby allotment apparently has free plots but I currently have the time to take one on. I have a small veg plot in my garden and once I've mastered this space I will be getting myself one.

Its just seeing threads like this one makes me want one now! Love the pollytunnel bye. Did you build that yourself or was it a flatpack hobby?

What a transformation you have achieved. Clearly a lot of hard graft, but very rewarding too. How many hours do you spend per week there?

That does indeed look a well tended plot, and I can tell you are almost in the furthest corner from the car park.

Oh .. And B&Q is rather handy being where it is ... And Waitrose....... And....... And..... :snork:

Good job there banksy :yay: In our area (Medway) the average wait is 2 - 4 years, depending where your chosen site is, hard work but worth it.
