Bit of weeding

 

Dug over a patch of ground where my comfrey lives, re homed some primroses from there and some bulbs. I then decided to sow some wild flowers in there in an area about 1.5m x 1m.

Surprised how big a crop of Lily Beetles I am getting.

Where are they coming from? (Not much in the way of neighbours with appropriate-hosts near me. I combated them, as normal, last Spring but in late summer I had a second attack, which I was not expecting and did not detect in time, which decimated my plants. Are the ones I have now all the over-winterers? If I crush all the ones I see now will I have less next year?

 

Mowed the front lawn when I got home from work last night.

I've just done one of the worst jobs to do, which was to remove a huge Laurel from a 130L pot, root prune it (ie lots of hacking with a saw) and then pot it into a 90L pot. My poor back.

I've also fed the Roses which are the last plants to get their granular feed this year. It looks like it's going to rain soon so will give my back a bit of a rest and see what the weather's like later.

 

Found my get go, this morning! After morning inspection, I made a start on my little project......



Just got the lid to do (using 6mm clear twin wall polycarbonate, in wooden frame) and then a couple of coats of wood stain and my new (free) cold frame will be good to go !

 

Mowed the lawns , also cut the grass river side next to the newish hedge but left a meter for wild plants to grow along the edge of the river, my hands are killing me stinging nettles used some dock leaves but worked a little, I need to start using gloves.

Sowed the last of the French Marigolds also Jens seeds from Nepal ( Used a gritty compost with perlite to cover them hope it works ) Impatiens @Jenny namaste ps the label came in handy as well .
Planted out some more ivy cuttings along the left hand side of the fence and potted some up into old clematis pots to use later in the year if needed.

Checked all labels in the daylily pots and borders I wish I had used Scrounge marker pen from Wilkos !!! trying to guess half of name rubbed out .

Where I am going to put everything I have run out of space , but the lawn looks large

Been weeding and remove sycamore seedlings as our neighbour at the back of us as a large syamore tree, its great for privacy nothing else, my knees are killing me know time for a brew

 

About 4 weeks ago I spent the weekend dismantling the greenhouse staging, well I changed my mind so I spent today putting it back together again!!!!

I've got an idea for something you could do in a couple of weeks time - when you are next bored!!!

 

Oh I wasn't bored, but sometimes plans change!!!! Plans change quite a lot here!!!!!!
