    Well, it's in one of the most hard to reach places in the garden:heehee: But when I planted it so long ago it was a "different" garden with less plants in it:doh: I can remember, though, planting it deep around 2 feet in the ground as that was the advice given to me.:snork:

    Deeper than mine, although the hole I dug were deep and wide to make sure of good drainage.

      Well, over 20 years ago I was still a novice gardener and took the advice....not done any harm either as it has lasted. I can remember buying it when at Market Drayton at the Wednesday Street Market with my wife. I can also remember my wife looking at me suspiciously on the drive back home in the Jeep and then asking "What's that smell??":lolpt: After me declaring my innocence:dunno: we checked and found it was the Fritillaria.......what a pong!!:hate-shocked::heehee:

            Thanks, ARMANDII, the colour in the photo is almost exactly the actual colour :blue thumb:. It's the first time it has flowered (is now covered in them) and it has been in there for quite some years.

                  No smart remarks about the rubbish photo and that you have to crick your neck to see it:) I'm just thrilled that EVENTUALLY after about 15 years this species Rhododendron Falconeri has decided to flower well for really the 1st time. Someone told me I was bonkers buying species Rhododendrons as I'd be dead before they started to flower well...nearly right:loll: All I do know is it seems too much of a coincidence that it is smothered in buds and flowers this Spring after a glorious summer/autumn last year. Certainly up here in Scotland I grow my Rhododendrons in as sunny spots as I can give them plus heavy mulch so plenty of moisture. I too often see Rhododendron planted in deep shade and people can't understand why they don't flower.

                            I too have the lovely little species? Tulips. I'm amazed that mine have just started to flower and so are yours Longk yet I'm in Fife and you in Oxfordshire, normally we'd be anything up to 6 weeks behind Southern England. I love your Iris, is it tricky to grow/need a limey soil/less than bone hardy? If all the answers are no then I'm on the hunt to buy some...gorgeous.
