I hate these inflexible One Policy Only solutions ... but OTOH so easy to adhere to :)

With my weekly shop I ordered 4 20L bags of Asda multi purpose compost (£1.25) and two Westland 26.7L with John Innes (£3).

They ran out of the Asda compost, so sent me 6 bags of Westland at the same price, so I got 160L for £11, which equates to 7p per litre. The same compost in Homebase is £6.99 for 50L, ie 14p per litre, or three for £13.98, which is still more expensive at 9p per litre.

Plus I haven't had to do my back in lugging it home and because the bags are smaller I won't do my back in dragging it round the garden :blue thumb:

Phyllostachys aurea for £19.99 reduced from £69.99, what a bargain and a Junkus spiralis £8.49, the start of my tropical garden

£5.99 from Aldi! Ok not a named variety but is very nice and similar to Percy Wiseman (blooms are darker than in the photo). Would cost anything up to 5 times as much in certain garden centres. Only slightly grotty thing is the growing medium is rubbish substitute peat so won't be staying long in it's pot. Yes ok I put my hands up I did buy 3, at that price I couldn't resist! CIMG3398.JPG

A great bargain there Silu. They look good strong specimens - just need a loving home to go to.
