Thanks for your responses and warm welcome :spinning: I'm new to gardening after far too many years living in flats and was a bit worried they looked like weeds. You guys have made my day and will definitely show you the results in a few months

Did you use a particular seed mix or did you just buy separate seeds of what you wanted in there? I want to turn my front garden into a wildflower meadow but so far all my attempts have failed. I think its because the existing grass is too well established (the front lawn was already well established when I bought the house 4 years ago), so even when I've deliberately damaged the grass to make way for new stuff, the grass just recovers too quickly and swamps everything else out. I suppose I ought to bite the bullet and dig it over:)

I used a pollen and nectar seed mix as well as a cornfield mixture (which funnily enough was 50% corn cockle ). I'm not sure of the forum rules and whether I'm allowed to post websites ?

I removed all weeds and grass from the area then dug it over and raked evenly. Back in October I evenly ?? spread the seeds and walked over them a few times to embed.

I then left them and kept my fingers crossed. Until this post I actually thought the corn cockle was weed and had considered pulling them out:wallbanging:

I have quite a bit of Cleavers down one end and must get round to pulling that out this weekend, unless one of you has a better suggestion ?

Its fine, with certain caveats. Obviously we're not allowed to post links to anything very naughty, and we're not allowed to promote our own businesses without permission from the webmaster, but its perfectly fine to post a relevant link in a conversation, for example showing a product you bought or are thinking of buying.

          Welcome to GC

It is in a corn field that's why farmers have sparyed them out with all other wild flowers :mute:
