As promised earlier, a week ago they were just buds poking through the ground !

A touch of slug / snail damage, but one has taken care of that :dbgrtmb:

Well they are doing well for the middle of April Annie :dbgrtmb: What variety is that ?

I would like a couple more hostas for a shadey spot in the corner of the garden . Now I can't ever recall seeing hostas for sale in GC's or nurseries - Then again I never really looked . Do most folk get them mail order ? If so who is the best supplier ?

Well I am off to my favourite nursery/GC over the weekend , I think all I need this year is a few fuchsias. So I will hunt these pesky Hostas down  Will GC Hostas be in full leaf at this time of year ?

Some maybe, but most will be at various stages of growth, you should be able to get a good idea of colour though.

I have recently placed an order with Hutton Hostas.
        They have hundreds of varieties.
Not that cheap, but fantastic quality.

Sorry HarryS really don't know which variety. Had a big planter full of these hostas for the last 24 years. Last year I split them up and dotted them around the garden - thankfully all doing well! Out the front of the house I have some big ones growing but they are only just showing their points.

That is something I have noticed, the bigger and older the plant, the slower it seems to be, BUT, I bet that they will give the best display :noidea:

Also, mine have yet to be attacked by the slugs and snails little so and so's, actually have not had / seen many of them at all.....

I think most folk don't know their Hosta names , Annie. They just seem to have always been there or donated by friends . Yesterday I bought a Hosta fortunei var. albopicta f. aurea , that's why we don't remember names  Its recommended for full shade , which is perfect from the location I have in mind.

I have two Hosta Francees in different pots. One started growing about 3-4 weeks ago and now has two full leaves with others racing up. The second is much later, only just poking above ground now and growing slower. Very strange as they're within meters of each other. One is marginally more sheltered but I'm surprised by the time difference.
