I had some of last years frozen beetroots, mine are just getting a good size in the garden and 1 more pack left still - then fresh will kick in.

Some dried onion and carrots and parsley in the soup. (bought mixed peppers from the discounted; wilted, corner - some cauley too, which was the main part ), and some garden greens from the garden.

    last years greens and beets

Fresh coriander and parsley, if windowsill crops count...

Only chives in a cheese and chive toasted sandwich! I usually only grow flowers and a few herbs but this year we have some potatoes in sacks and some carrots. I've also got some tomato plants on the windowsill which will be planted out at a later date so hopefully I'll have my own home grown toms for the first time - fingers crossed! :fingers crossed:

MrsK (and I typed your name MsK first time; so ingrained in us is the civil and government destruction of marriage; Mrs is seldom used today and is almost politically incorrect, good for you)

But it all counts MrsK, this silly growing of things is almost always extraordinarily backwards finically as in we could work at a job instead of growing stuff and buy so very much more with the money. But we are still humans with our whole forming as a species hunting and gathering; being a hands on part of nature rather than an observer. It is very much still part of our humanity. Growing a window box of chives is a direct link to us planting wild grass seed with a digging stick on the savanna 50,000 years ago.

I believe this carries directly over to our modern gathering - of scoring a deal in the shopping. My wife got a bag of mixed wilted peppers for a couple dollars a couple days ago and we are eating them in everything - and enjoying then the better for them being hunted and gathered that way.

well done fern, good luck with the tomatoes.

Just been nibbling on some Sea Beet that I planted from seed some years back. Need to cut it back so it keeps producing young leaves now.

We do not know sea beet here - sounds very interesting! Salt inundation is a regular thing here - and I see it grows in places which may be similar to here in weather. Do you get seed for it? I am off to feed the chickens, but will look it up later - just saw the wiki bit and am using a British ip so got British info. Will log on with a USA ip later.

Sorry, can't agree there. 'Mrs' is used a lot more than 'Ms'. Not just my opinion, I handle chunks of data of many thousands of people every day, and Mrs is much, much more widely used that Ms, and rightly so. Ms tends to be used in two situations. 1) Where gender is known to be female but title is not known, and 2) by pretentious people who take offence if you are so rude as to hold the door for them rather than letting it slam in their face, because such a gesture is not manners at all, but rather a subtle insinuation that women are somehow inferior.

But anyway, what did I pick and eat today? Three bananas, some mixed nuts, some spring rolls, and a half price easter egg.

Well, yesterday I picked some wild garlic leaves and flowers and put them in the salad. The little flowers are surprisingly strong,

Excellent. Is it out now is it? I'll have to go and have a look at the weekend. The nettles are out now too. Nettle and wild garlic soup is delicious.

Carrier bag full of asparagus:yay:. Had half hot with butter and the rest will be a salad tomorrow. It's by far the best thing I planted here, despite the doom and gloom merchants warnings that it wouldn't grow on heavy soil!

                      Yes!

And even more with jam you made, but not necessary. I use a lot of marmalade and that is fun to make and any old oranges, grapefruit, lemons can be used.

                      Tomatoes already! well done.
