    Morning all,

Mrs Gdnams Aunt lost her battle against Cancer last evening, we got the news just an hour before going out to celebrate her brothers 30th Birthday.

Ella is doing fine @moyra , thank you. @Lolimac , she sure is, she is raring to go, but Vets orders must be obeyed :cat-kittyandsmiley:

    Have a great day.

    Aloha everyone,

Steve, sorry to hear about Mrs G's aunt :grphg:

Moyra, I'm still working on the edges but am getting other things done as well. Michael's getting on well and doing a lot of heavy work for us as things have been getting a bit out of hand the last couple of years. Some things have spread like mad and we're having to sort them out.

The yellow flowering lamium looks lovely in the shady area but has spread so far and so quickly that he spent all day getting rid of most of it. There was at least 500 sq ft of it! Another thing that has gone mad is violets. They've been spreading through all the flower beds and veggie plot. So those have had to go - just keeping a small amount.

Yesterday I spent a lot of the day getting the bean areas ready and have put up enough canes for 200 plants - still more to go. It seems an easy job at first but pushing so many canes deep into the ground is pretty tough on the back and stomach muscles. At least I know I have some! :heehee: Just tying them all in and weaving the ShineyFrame took two hours :hate-shocked:. Note to self: next year, cut strings ready for canes whilst watching TV.

I had to dig out a lot of forget-me-nots, and weeds, from the veg patch to get more canes in. This year we're also going to grow French beans (haven't grown them for years) and have some good ones from Steve R and are trialling a new variety for Gardening Which? The ones from Which? climb up to 6ft high.

Got to start getting ready to cook lunch for 17 people today as Mrs Shiney's running a seminar (Health At Your Fingertips) in the summerhouse. Hopefully it will be warm enough for everyone to eat outside - under the covered pergola. It's raining at the moment but I've put in a request for it to be dry and sunny - dry would be enough but there's no harm asking :snork:

    Have a great day

    Aloha!

Just discovered this thread, how friendly it is.

Hey Lolimac, lucky you, the rain is still bucketing down here. Do you know the forecast for tomorrow? My OH fancies a ride to Filey. Because our dog Bailey goes everywhere with us it means eating outside and I don't fancy that if it is going to be wet.

        Morning LWW...

You'll be OK if you have a brolly and your wellies, looks like rain for the next few days....If you go up a bit further to Hartoft near Rosedale The Blacksmiths Inn,you can take dogs in or at least you could do,worth checking first but the Lion Inn Blakey Ridge through Rosedale allows dogs,it's smashing up there:thumbsup:

It's just dawned on me:doh:...The Ship Inn in Filey is pet friendly too:doggieshmooze:

Yes thanks, we have used the Ship, but, it appears that I am going deaf, it's Hornsea that WE want to go to. Thanks for the tip about The Blacksmiths.

Thanks Shiney, will be back here again.

Got stuck in hospital overnight. Naughty baby! Will be in every other day now. I did beg to deliver but they like to keep babies cooking as long as they can. Not long got out so going to enjoy the evening and tomorrow before venturing back in on mon. At least it's not snowing for the end of this preg like last time

                    Aloha everyone,

Hi Woo, I hope you're all feeling better :)

Wotcha, "M"! Keep well :blue thumb:

Hannah, maybe they're trying to make you have a May baby.

Yesterday went well. The weather turned and we were able to have lunch in the garden. It's so much easier to have that many people eating at the tables in the garden. :dbgrtmb: The sound of birdsong was all around and Sarafi came to inspect everyone :snork:

I also managed to get another 30ft of edging done and cleared another area in the veg patch of couch grass and made room for more bean canes. I hope to do some more edging and putting in canes if my stomach and chest muscles will let me. Mrs Shiney has given me some Arnica so by this afternoon I should be OK. Only four of us to cook for today as it's two students starting on their 'Master's'. They should get here on time this morning as they're only coming down from Cambridge. Some of yesterday's crowd came a long way.

The sun keeps trying to come out but they're forecasting occasional showers. The garden needs the rain but I don't want it when I have work to do out there.

Keep well and have a great day

                    Aloha!

                      Morning all,

The weather changed here as well and it turned out to be a good day.
This morning is overcast and my OH has decided to abandon a trip to the coast so we are going to the large M&S in Pudsey (oh joy)
In yesterdays post I received a packet of "grow wild seeds" from BBC Countryfile, I hope to put these in later today.

Morning all, hope you are all well.

Didn't get much done at all yesterday, so will be playing catch up again. Some of my Cosmos seedlings have gotten extremely leggy, so may have to sow some more.

Ella is getting stronger every day, it's a job to keep her confined :cat-kittyandsmiley:

                        Have a great day.
