How can I make this work?

Imagine its summer week, and the kids are playing in the garden. Some of you will know that my gardening is turning into a sort of Nerf arena/battle ground/adventure garden. My latest idea is a sort of booby trap water jet thing. You stand on something, and get soaked as a result.

Here is my very artistic sketch of my idea:



So basically, we have a water reservoir, lets say an old 5 gallon plastic container or something. It has a hose in it leading to an old car tyre laid flat on the ground. The car tyre has somehow been sealed and is also holding water. Another length of hose leads from it and up a pole, with the outlet at the top.

There would be some sort of non-return valve in the hose somewhere, possible where circled in red. The idea being that when someone's body weight goes on the tyre, the resulting compression will cause water to squirt out. When they jump back off, the resulting vacuum in the tyre will draw more water from the reservoir tank ready for the next shot.

Concealing the parts is not an issue. I'll easy figure that bit out. Its more the plumbing that I'm struggling with, like how to seal the tyre so that water doesn't simply leak out, how to get the balance of pressure right so that the path of least resistance when pressure is applied is up through the outlet rather than back into the reservoir tank, whether old garden hose would be the right bore or whether it should be something more like the hoses on a car's windscreen washer plumbing, and where I could buy (or how I could make) suitable non-return valves.

Ideas please?

When mine were younger, I simply stood at the bedroom window and drenched the blighters with a bucket of water!

I'll watch with interest to see how it can be achieved though ... I have a demon of an idea that this could be a real hoot if set up for when Mr M does Chook Duties

I had to look up "Nerf" i thought it was , should be fun with "inlaws" ie mother in law

 

Been thinking...yeah yeah yeah I know it's dangerous but instead of any mechanics would a 'tube' hidden infront of the 'landing area' leading from some kind of camouflaged heavy duty ,slightly buried,inflatable 'cushion' containing the water work? there needs to be a small platform to jump off,land on the 'cushion' type thingy thus get soaked from the pressure...the enemy could get lured to said platform with no turning back ,has to jump...got him....

That probably sounds double dutch but I know what I mean
