Have trimmed the front lawn edges with the lawn scissors, then mowed it. Mowed the back lawn and moved the temporary fencing (which keeps the dogs off the lawn in winter otherwise it turns into a quagmire) so that the dogs now have access to most of the lawn but about a quarter of it, which is still very squishy, is still fenced off. Need some more lawn seed for that so will need a trip to B&Q at some stage. I may invest in a new lawnmower at the same time.

Not much as I turned over my ankle when I got back from the airport this morning. Had a rest for a while before doing the weekly shop.

Have managed to hobble around and do morning inspection, all my seedlings in the temp cold frame made it through last nights frost with no extra protection :dbgrtmb:

Everything is growing up a pace now, well except my Red Hot Pokers, they are looking a little forlorn. Thankfully I have some in reserve.

Some of the Cosmos seedlings are too leggy, so tomorrows plan ( as long as the ankle is ok) is to sow some more, along with sowing out some Flanders poppies and some more Calendula. Also have to pot on some stuff.

Sowed some courgettes, cues and cauliflowers in the greenhouse, also potted on some chilli seedlings.

Sowed some lettuce, spring onions, kale, winter cabbage, sprouting broccoli and a few mixed spicy leaves outside.

Did a bit of light hand weeding here and there.

Put top soil on the rockery, looks much better now :) took out the wilted tulips etc & put some bedding plants in. Cut the lawn, and a general spruce up :)

I've had a pootle outside this morning - cut down some tulips which had gone over, pruned a couple of bits and pulled up more Leycesteria Formosa seedlings which are becoming a pain.

Just going to tidy up later (if it stays dry) and maybe do some sweeping and moving pots about.

I'm a bit out of practice and I've not been that enthusiastic about the garden this year but it's gradually winning me over now. Why does it take me so long to decide what goes where now? So, a lot of umming and aaahing,
              diddly dee?
              diddly dah?
Kept having to go back to the shed for things I should have got out at the beginning...
Hung up a wall basket, a small round basket with trailing sweet peas and pink diascia that have both enjoyed life for 4 weeks in the mini GH. Cleaned up a tatty plastic trough and planted up some salads leaves that were on the kitchen window ledge. Reached to the back of the mini GH and found some young Dahlia's from @Loli that were clothed in greenfly . Weren't 3 days ago - honest. A spray of Provado and a time in the sun on the patio and they all dropped off by lunchtime and are now back in the MGH.
Neighbours just told me a frost warning tonight so, the hanging baskets are going to have to come down. Be glad when this silly spell has gone away...
Pulled out this that has been in a sheltered corner over Winter. Scraped off the moss, trowelled over the sunken surface, then slow release fertilizer and 2 Echiverias that I've
nutured over Winter in the top with fresh MPC and a watering. Looks better.
P1040585.JPG Listened to the cuckoo - snail throwing and potted up a couple of Salvia Farinacia - now in the MGH.
A goodly day and roast pork to look forward to.
              Jenny

Weeding, weeding, weeding. Now have horsetail to add to the list of perennial weeds in this garden. Anyone lend me a flamethrower????? Don't think I will ever get on top of the weeds here. Too many self seed/spread from neighbouring fields and untended areas.

Watered everything as it's been so sunny the past couple of days.

Planted out some Cleome and Cosmos into beds. Left the greenhouse babies out tonight to start hardening off.

I've smashed up the remains of a concrete path that I'd forgotten existed, especially since it had accumulated an inch of mud on top thus concealing it.

I also wiped out the wife's washing line. Well whose daft idea was it to run a washing line over a concrete path, and then let CL1 own a sledgehammer anyway.

I broke me bleedin' fork removing a 3m x 3m patch of Daylilies for Sue. Mind you, there was a Philadelphus in the middle of it that was totally addled with the Daylilies and I was removing that when I broke it!

At long last completed the rebuild of a section of fence that December gales demolished. It's been a mammoth task that's taken a few weeks all told.
Mrs W helped finish weeding some flower beds and then I started flame gunning one of the veg plots only to find the flame thrower was gunged up, so that took an hour to dismantle and clean. Now running like a tornado jet fighter!
Spent a lovely hour with four year old grand daughter looking for bugs and mini-beasts and feeding a snail with lettuce from the fridge!!!
