Ive just finished putting the glass into the new greenhouse - its taken the best part of the last three days from putting the base in & making sure its square, putting the frame together and thats 12 foot long & difficult to move on my own & making sure its still square & then putting the glass in today.

Wow, that's a big job! :hate-shocked: You be careful, now :)

Coleridge's eldest son, Hartley (a good story teller), used to be a close neighbour of Wordsworth. :blue thumb:

Went & got some more alpines for the roadside garden. It's a cross between a rockery and 'on top of a dry stone wall' kinda garden. It had plants on that had been allowed to overrun; they're all gone for the most part & now it's my nice new plants :)
And now a couple of congratulatory cold ones ;)

Not much today just watering the stuff in the GH and planted up these palms

                        image.jpg

Cut a few compost bag up as liners for the baskets then dug out the dandelions out of the lawn by hand because if I use weed and feed I'll have no lawn left ;)

I took out a few of the seed trays[Delphiniums, Nicotiana, two varieties of Cosmos, and two varieties of Wall Flowers] from the Green House to plant the excess larger seedlings into whatever spaces I could find in the garden. I succeeded in planting around 60 to 80 Nicotiana, a couple of hundred or more Cosmos, about 50 Wallfowers, and maybe 30 or so of the Delphiniums. I've had to give up on the Delphiniums because of I have nearly a thousand of them in trays and that's just too much. They're from last year's harvested seeds from one of the borders but I never thought I would have so many grow.:dunno: I've still still got loads of trays of Echinaceas, Monarda, Sun Flowers, Hollyhocks, Lupins etc, to find space for somewhere!!:wallbanging::snork:

Door ! thats what all the left over bits are for.. I do actually have an entire sheet of glass for the roof left over, I dont see where I could have put it so Im assuming its a mistake..

Im sure something will get planted there - I was thinking Citrus - but I probably will just do toms & chillies this year so that I get an idea of how hot it gets in there ; the first greenhouse which is on the same wall has been over 30'c this year already so it might be a challenge to find something which can cope with that + survive the winter with minimal heating .. I have run power "just in case" but Im not sure that I want to be heating both greenhouses.

Been a busy, if slow sort of day - I have properly knackered my left shoulder and neck somewhere between lifting slabs and sand into a friends car on Friday, standing for 12 hours at work on Saturday, and building Little C's new bed yesterday, so I couldn't get done all I wanted to, but managed:

                                - Bought another pack of cucumber seeds (Amanda F1), and sowed them

                                - Sowed trays and trays of Malva Zebrina, French Marigolds and African Marigolds (and have sprinkled slug pellets liberally all over them this time as the last trays got devoured before they got started.

                                - Moved calendula and dwarf annual hollyhocks out of the greenhouse (they are going to have to tough it out now, there just isn't space in the greenhouse any more)

                                - Re-potted brugmansia into a nice big pot, with some chickens hit pellets mixed in with the compost

                                - Rescued and re-potted a few geraniums and fuchsias that managed to survive the winter

                                - Emptied and washed loads of pots and stacked them ready for use

                                - Emptied all my baskets and threw out the now knackered coir liners, washed them and stacked them to dry and then be ready to be relined

                                - Cut the grass and tidied things up a bit (bending proved to be too much of a pull on my shoulder and neck so had to chuck that as a bad idea)

                                - Shuffled some stuff around in the greenhouse as some of the tomatoes were getting a bit leggy, so moved them into the full sunlight, still loads to move around though

                                - Watered everything that wanted it.
