    That's strange, it's nothing to do with sandy soil, as you know mine's the same as yours and the darned things still come up having self seeded from elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

      I agree, I've even prepared the area around the Acer by spreading leaf mould in depth around over the years but still can't get them to survive. My borders are obviously just the same kind of sandy soil and you as you could see the Bluebells are thriving there..........but I still know I didn't plant them in those spots!!:dunno::snork: There must be a answer to how to get the Bluebells to flourish under the Acer and I'll keep trying.:coffee:

          Did you plant English ones maybe? Your photo looks like Spanish (which is a thug and cross breed with English and then out-does it :( )

                            My Acer Drumondii is at its best at this time of year. The fresh springs foliage seems to light up as it catches the late evening sun.
