    Anyone got one? Do they drag the battery down or are they ok? :)

    I think that will be quite variable @Zigs - mainly dependant on size, screen type and backlighting etc, and of course what the capacity of your battery is. The most efficient would be LED backlit and not too large.

    Are you using a leisure battery?

    Led is a good idea FC :)

    Don't need a big one, used to looking at laptop sized screens. Yep, 2 leisure batteries powered by a 30 watt solar panel :SUNsmile:

      OK - Pure guesstimate time; Assuming that your leisure batteries are 85Ah (reckon they are the most common), that gives you 170Ah total, or 170-hours at 1-amp load.

      A 12v LED TV of around 20" would be around 30w (finger in the wind semi-educated guess ONLY), so therefore would be presenting a 2.5A load - - - 170/2.5 = 68, so it would run for 68 hours.

      Now, this of course does not take into account any of your other consumers (fridge, water pump etc), so that 68 hours would reduce.

            Cool FC :):dbgrtmb:

            Running a small fridge, laptop and lights ( stoplight car bulb type) Only need about an hour of telly to chill and roll some fags of an evening, it was just that I was going over my bandwidth watching stuff on youtube, so a telly might be a better option, not had one for years, are they still showing Friends?:snork:

              I'd guess that your consumption is around the 6A mark then, so divide whatever the overall capacity of your batteries is by 6 or 7 and you will have a rough running time (assuming a full charge of course). Friends is still running, but not on FreeView - its moved to the Comedy Channel now :biggirn: - however, you will get Dave on FreeView which does a half-decent hash at 'man telly'

                Uumm, not strictly correct F.C.
                It would take 68 hours to totally drain the battery/ies but in practice the available time would be considerably less because the equipment connected will probably have an operational range of say 10 to 14V.
                So as the battery/ies voltage drops to close to 10V, not only will the equipment draw more current (the lower the voltage the higher the current for a given power), but the equipment will start to behave erratically or just switch off.

                I would guess (depending on the battery type), that one would not get much more than say 8 to 10 hours at that current draw.

                  Καθένας πήρε ένα; Να σύρετε την μπαταρία προς τα κάτω ή είναι εντάξει;

                    Agreed, hence the guesstimate warning at the start
