Also loved the Stranglers, Clash the Damned smidge earlier but were still going in 80s just!
Saw Stranglers again recently had a ball, they were still great!

Saw Squeeze a couple of years ago, hadn't aged well in looks but they sounded just as brilliant as they did all those years ago.

 

Were they playing an old record ?

 

Just yesterday I was in the shop buying some beer, when the lass behind the counter, who I've known all my life, asked me if I'd like one of her doughnuts, that she'd made herself. I politely declined, saying I was trying to lose my belly. She replied, 'you don't have to, you're allowed a belly, its middle aged spread'. I replied that I'm not middle aged, to which she replied, totally matter of fact, "yes you are", and all I could say was "yes, I suppose I am aren't I". What a thought that was.

It doesn't matter though. I'm still the same person as I was when I was much younger. People I've known all my life are still daft yoofs to me. Ok, I'm not as fit or as fast as I was, but compensation for that is that I'm more confident and more settled. Just today, while out on my mountain bike with my 5 year old son, we came across some mounds that made perfect stunt opportunities. Did I think "I'm getting too old for this" or "people expect more of me now"? Nope, I thought "How can I attack this for the best air, without hitting a tree", and then me and the lad spent best part of an hour working out different ways to attack it.

Sounds like witchery to me.

Also liked Peaches and Always the sun - but tbh liked most of Stranglers stuff. Forgot to say The Jam too! How good were they!
What is great is my adult kids love the 70's and 80's music so we music share and I am kept abreast of the current bands ....shocks the hell out of the youngsters I come into contact with at work, an old bird conversing on the like of Jake Bugg (good 1st album dodgy 2nd) !

I think the years have gone too fast and there has been a time slip. I feel like 69, not 49. I can't do stunts anymore :(
