I like some modern stuff. I recently discovered the meaning of life from watching the music channels. I was put here to watch Beyonce videos :)

I went through a phase when I couldn't do them any more either. Except when we're not so lucky with our health (I'm finally on the mend following 4 months of severe lurgy for example, to the extent that I was putting arrangements into place at one point so to speak), we are only as old as we believe we are.

In us human sorts, again barring physical ailments, our single biggest limiting factor is our own minds.

Consider this. In blind panic in an genuine emergency, our muscles are capable of achieving as much as 10 times the amount of force that we can consciously make them achieve. I've seen it first hand. My dad and I picked up a large crashed motorbike between us and threw it clear of its rider once, because smoke was billowing out of it and we thought it was about to burst into flames. We must have thrown it about 6ft, and it was quite a big bike. We know both rider and bike, and had both worked on the bike (no, our work didn't cause the crash, that was rider stupidity, trying to pull a wheelie on a bike with a fairly long wheel base and low centre of gravity), and neither of could actually lift it off the floor, at all, when just doing maintenance on it, yet when it came down to it, we hurled it. The difference was purely adrenaline, but adrenaline doesn't make you any stronger or fitter, it just shuts down the part of your brain that says "you probably shouldn't do that, you might hurt yourself for a while", which then convinces the part of your brain responsible for motor control (muscle contractions) to tone things down a bit. I.e., quite physically, with the exception of genuine ailments or injuries, its all in your head.

It was all a bit different to the Lonnie Donnigan, Guy Mitchell and the music they were into!

I know your pain. I fired a kidney stone out of my willy once when taking a leak. It felt like someone had just yanked my kidneys out via my urethra. I couldn't move, I couldn't even squeal like a pig in pain. Just silent agony.

As for the other thing. I don't know what to say. I hope it turns out to be nowt to worry about.

My Dad hated Johnny Cash, so naturally I loved The Man In Black (still do, and Roy Orbison). But I do find myself increasingly going back to the '80s for music.
