Newbie Mistake

Don't move the verbascum, it'll be nice. Probably yellow candelabra flowers on it. Pull it out after it's flowered and scattered a few seeds.

 

They are nice hands!
I wear gloves these days - the sort made of cotton jersey with rubberised palms and fingers. They are OK when brand new but the dirt starts to come through on the thumbs and forefingers pretty quick. Also when sowing seeds/potting I don't like to wear gloves so it undoes any good work they may have done. I'm resorting to scraping hand cream under my nails before gardening sessions - when I remember.

 

Is that grass Couch Grass and have roots like this? If so another approach might be required if they're all tangled up with plants to be left insitu.

They don't look like old hands. Mine look about 90. Wished mine look like girly hands, everything considered.

Unfortunately I have been poorly (kidney stones ), and I am far from 100% at the moment. Otherwise I would have come over. Cutting the grass yesterday nearly killed me
