The perfect sausage! ??

    I dunno, but pork slow cooked in cider is nice. Or better still, pick loads of fresh sage out of the garden, and put it in the bottom of the slow cooker. Then sit the pork on top, then pour good cider over it til its about one third covered. Stab the pork right through in a few places so that there are channels for the flavours to mingle through. Leave it sat for a a few hours if possible, then slow cook it for hours. Works with gammon too. Nothing to do with slausages, but delicious all the same.

      I only buy from a few local butchers now as the difference to the other stuff sold as sausages is immense.
      From my mates I get a wide range (he's was runner up in a national contest). His pork and leek are spot on, as is the pork and cider. Best of all are the Marmite ones that he runs off for the first weekend of the month, but they make a heck of a mess of the pan as the Marmite runs out with the fat and then caramelises in the pan.
      He also does a cracking venison banger too.

        Take a pork tenderloin and seal in a frying pan using butter. Add button mushrooms and cider, cook for 10/15 minutes until the loin is almost cooked and then add a pot of cream and turn the heat up to reduce the sauce 3 or 4 minutes.

          I know, but I always say 'slausages' because I can't say 'sausages'.

                Veggie sausages OK

                Pilchards OK

                Veg sausages+pilchards not OK.

                My fave veg sausages would probably be Quorn ones. I also like the Tivall frankfurter type. As a wavering vegetarian one form of meat that would tempt me is a nice juicy, well-fried sausage in a sandwich, although some nice garlic salami would be even better.

                    They get my vote too clueless - when I visit relatives I have to go armed with pounds of Lincolnshire sausages and of course Lincolnshire haslet.
