    No, seriously!

For any regulars here I am sure everyone would like to know if a member moves on to tend better pastures, and I am sure that those left who still have to tend gardens where weeds grow! would like to mark the occasion.

I have many friends here, but very few of them have I met. I suspect that for many their close friends / partners don't know how to get in touch with forums that they are members of, or even perhaps that that would be appreciated.

I don't know of an easy way for a non-member to send a suitable message, but it seems that one way would be to have personal contact details of another member(s) on this site that a spouse, partner or friend could contact.

Another route is the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page, although I think someone unknown sending a message via that route would need to be able to point to a newspaper announcement or similar - I am sure we could do without prank announcements, although the subsequent "The report of my death was an exaggeration" response would no doubt be amusing!

But either way, you need to leave some sort of instruction for those left behind to follow ... please :)

When I was poorly recently, I left a sheet detailing all of my accounts etc. Just in case! :)

Yes I agree with that too.. My O/H knows how to leave a message on here as he did when I was taken ill last year..

My I ask what sparked this thought off Kristen..?
Most of my affairs are in order now as well as we experienced a family death which prompted us to sort things out as we were left with a difficult mess of affairs to deal with and we thought we wouldn't leave that for our family to sort out....

Good evening none of my affairs are in order:heehee: but I have left strict instructions for Mrs Woo to email Marley straight away if I were to go to the great rose garden in the sky;) and then my friend Marley could put it in G/C's new obituary sticky thread with a photo of that lovely red Roses "Remember Me":blue thumb::smile:

So it was specifically that Indian meal that provoked this debate?

If I go without an explanation, then you know I'm brown bread.

I'd not leave without giving a reason.

Have enough friends I face book who would know of my lift off. And then those on face book from this group would read it there and so on.

I know it's an old one, but I would still like to have 'told you I was ill'', on my stone! Oh, one problem.....I want to be roasted, not buried.

Then how would we know in time to come to your funeral, say? (sorry to be morbid) ... not to mention to get there in time to dig all the plants out of your garden before some other blighter gets there, eh?!!

The "stone" next to my Father's says "I'd rather be fishing" :)

When Mr "M"'s mother died last year, I began getting things organised for when I die.

One of the items I came across was an Age Concern pdf file listing those who need to be informed: solicitors, employers, banks, friends, what documentation you have and where to find it etc., (a blank copy can be found here for anyone who wants to download one and fill it in: Instructions for my next-of-kin and executors upon my death

Something else to consider in our electronic world ... passwords! Online banking, email, subscriptions of any type ... these may need to be accessible to others after we are gone.
