Last years Charlotte potatoes that have grown in the compost bin. Silly question: Can I eat them?

Yup (provided they aren't last year's spuds that have, since, grown and produced foliage and (hopefully!) this year's "crop". Usually the "seed potato" goes mushy, so is easy to spot, but sometimes they go hard instead.

I'm not sure if they're last years or this years (lesson learnt), no foliage has grown. They do seem hard.

Last years then. If they haven't sprouted?? (seems unlikely) they may be OK. If they had then they would have formed baby potatoes, depending on variety it might be a bit early to "Harvest them", but if left they would have given you a good crop!

My Arran Pilots have been in the ground 117 days, are they ready? They haven't flowered yet however. I'm not too sure what to do?! Will get a pic tomorrow.

They need to be flowering IMO,you could have a careful sneaky rummage, but they should be left until after they have flowered to get the best out of them:thumbsup:
