Top them and start training them sir! Or just wallow in your riotous toms.

Take out the side shoots which appear between the main stem and leave stalks like this...

They are not getting enough light -

tomatoes fruit starting at the bottom - then the next fruit is above that, and the next above...so they are not like a chard where you can crop them back and new will grow. I think you are kind of stuck with what you have got; although becky is right somewhat. Just place in the most lit spot, fertilize, and get a few fruits.

Also get some canes and tie the plant to them, it is a bit long and spindly to be so unsupported.

Also it seems attractive enough so is doing OK in its function as an inside pot plant. (nice room!)

They will definitely need strong canes. leave them like they are and one morning you will wake up to find them fallen all over your nice clean floor! If they've grown this much already just think how big they'll be by the end of August.

Don't 'top them', they want to get up to the light. Utilise the metal tie bars (arrowed below) to secure some bamboo canes to (or strong twine) to support them. If the 'side shoots' have flowers on, cut them off beyond any flowers on the side shoots as your plants don't seem to have many flowers (normally a sign of low light levels).

P.S. I assume you've got some stepladders to pick the toms.

PS, I do notice the bit of irony: Lucius, 'light' and Maximus......Luciusminimus, and a picture of a mouse could work too.........

Bexy, Minimus is a children's Latin Grammar book, something I wish I had had - I had to wait till university to get any Latin - one of the most useful things one can learn. (I saw you disagree with my silliness above, but Latin its self is never silly)

Thanks for all the replies :) I don't understand how they cannot be getting enough light as they are in a conservatory and it is very light - and very warm. If they are not getting enough light why have they grown so big?? Conservatory is south/west facing so gets lots of light, but in any case I have no where else to move them to so they will have to stay put. The one plant is Alicante, I don't know what the other is as it just appeared in my pot of fern. I thought it was a weed and almost pulled it out. I forgot to add earlier I have already tied it up ( pic was taken before ).

Growing. Addictive? We shan't talk like this shall we? Tings get spindly when it gets too hot, also. You could try get some air moving. I've seen conservatories too hot to grow cacti
