Not my cup of tea really; don't get me wrong, if I had absolutely pots of money, then yeah I'd have one in a heartbeat - as much for the glorious sound they make as anything.

However, for day to day living with, I just don't know that I could - - my old glass back wouldn't like too much of it for a start, and no matter how much cash I had I would be scared to park it anywhere in case someone dinged it.

I park my Vectra away from all the cars in the car parks to avoid dings, but when I return, someone has always parked next to me. I am sure they do it on purpoise!

Not for me. I'm in the trade and as far as I'm concerned they're all god awful money pits.

One day I'll buy me one of these...................

Worked on them all my working life and they're a classic that can be used every day. Reliable and on the whole cheap to run (except for fuel consumption).

I'd give my hind teeth for a nice 300SEL 6.3 though...................

6.3 litres of tyre shredding V8 in an innocuous looking four door saloon....................

As I recall from my time in Oz a major speed (as in amphetamine) habit is mandatory to drive one of those.

Did you ever get to drive it? Floaty air suspension, 185 tyres and 6.3 litres is a dream combination!

Bombproof reliability, but fuel and certain service jobs (the air bellows should be replaced every 50000 miles = £1000 plus) can be costly. Too much tyre smoking will shred the gearbox too.

I once drove one of these - E500 "Hammer" (already fast E500 with an uprated 6 litre AMG V8)..................

Ultimate Q car. De-badged so basically it just looked like any other E class. If you knew what you were looking at you'd spot the slightly flared arches, but Barry Boys in Scoobies tend not to know and are easily made to look like monkeys by this behemoth:lolpt:
