My favourite time of any plant is when things first start to appear. I find that far more exciting and lovely to look at than when they are established.

So here is my first delphinium and i'm hoping the others come out just as well

It is a fairly easy going plant, a bit tender maybe, I always take it into an unheated greenhouse over winter just in case. It is quite easy from seed and will flower the following year. I'm going to collect some seeds if possible (it failed to set seeds last year). I've made a note to keep a few seeds for you if you'd like to have some. Anyone else want some?

Not in my garden but.... every morning and evening when I go walking with Bailey we pass through what we locals call "Cherry Tree Copse". It's part of the old Waterton Family Estate and as the name suggests it is full of cherry trees. Last year was a bumper harvest (see photo) and every time I went past I took a handful, just to supplement my five a day of course. The lovely weather in late April, early May this year allowed the blossom to flourish and now the cherries are forming and it looks as though I could be another bumper harvest. I will tell Mrs LWW to dust off the Cherry Pie recipe.

It's a self seeded Impatiens glandulifera. Last year I grew a natural selection from seed called "Red Wine" and let a few seed pods go. This is what it looked like last year..............

I was going to tug it as the foliage lacked the red stripe of "Red Wine". Here's the two self seeders side by side (the white one is on the right of the photo).................

                      Digitalis carillion is in bloom.......................

It's a little on the short side, but as I'm told that it's reliably hardy I'm not too bothered as it should be a lot bigger next year................
