There are just better Fuchsia full stop. Lady Boothby is an ok doer, but because of its growth habit it looks sparse flower wise.
The nearest to a climbing Fuchsia is my F.perscandens from New Zealand which has thin stems and will twine through other shrubs. But its a spring bloomer and the flowers start to form in the winter and so need protection from harsh winter weather, so not an easy grow in the UK.
It blooms from old wood so not an ideal choice for a neat Fuchsia.................

    I love it though!

If it's a novelty Fuchsia that you're after I would seek out Satellite..............

If it's a good doer that you want look to the Triphylla group...................

A lovely hardy species that I discovered last year is F.coccinea.................

Thank you Keith. Must confess, I succumbed to an impulse buy in Morrisons this afternoon.
2 X trailing Fuchsias "Harry Gray". They are quite advanced and a nice shape. They'll go well in the centre of my 2 hanging baskets I reckon.
        And, at £1 each...
well you have to don't you...

          @Jenny namaste - I'm a little old school when it comes to Fuchsia. F.magellanica in it many forms is hard to beat;

They'll not be heavy plants - garden twine will suffice.

            Hello

Can anybody tell me whats wrong with my fushias

            20140604_203159.jpg 20140604_203020.jpg 20140604_203135.jpg

The leaves and buds seem to have stunted growth and the leaves are curling and becoming deformed.

            Thanks

I've seen similar on some of mine this year, I just thought it was due to the temperatures going up then falling back again :dunno:

I think this is typically bugs munching the buds before they open (not specific to Fuchsias)

What type of bugs do you think? I couldnt see any bite marks and no holes.

Ive just snipped of the ends not sure if that's right but the plant looks better

            Kristen,
somehow, it looks like it's from within the plant itself - more like a viral infection?
            Jenny
            no evidence of insect habitation

Yes, true, munched buds would grow out like a Swiss cheese - like capsid bugs on Brugmansia.

If Virus then presumably that would be transmitted by bugs? (So treating the bugs could prevent further outbreak)

I had a similar thing happening and agree that it was just the hot days/cold nights/cold days affecting them All have grown out of it now.
