@Jenny namaste - I lifted your photo and highlighted three growth points where it appears to have grown through this phase. P1040764.JPG

Thank you Keith. It's full of lush growth but I want flowers. Do you think it would hurt it to cut it back somewhat , feed and start again?

      Are they in pots?

Could be. If the other two are fine I would probably bin the iffy one. Better to lose one mistakenly diagnosed healthy plant than to hope for the best and lose all three. It may be too late already though.
After losing all my Canna a few years ago I tend to err on the side of caution now.

Just give them a feed then, unless they're straggly. Despite the mild winter it wasn't a warm spring, so I think that we need to be patient. My Hawkshead has only just started blooming and is the only one so far.................

I'm a Blood, fish and bone fan Keith. I get a 1lb bag of it for £1 from a local farm shop,

I'm kinda converted to Phostrogen this year - seems to have done me well (coupled with chicken manure pellets) for the early part of the season; I'll switch to tomato food before long, hopefully boost the flowers

Didn't realise you could grow Fuchsias in a north facing border - will they still flower as profusely? It would be great if they did cos I could put some in my border which currently has all spring flowering plants in.

No, TBH, I don't think the really flowery ones get as many blooms -but enough and, for example, Delta's Sarah keeps her skirt darker in the shade. I'm sure others will be able to talk about theirs which bloom well north facing,

Isn't that pretty much the same as Phostrogen?

I find that the proper hardy ones are more tolerant of deep shade, And my collection of NZ species Fuchsia do better in a fair bit of shade too (the exception being F.procumbens).

Probably - there are only five true NZ species.
